Woodbury University partnered with the Shadow Hills Therapy to offer a three semester comprehensive design studio. The center offers equstrian courses, and therapy classes for women whom suffered fromd domestic violence, and youth from at risk living situations. The site housed a series of cabins complete with a bathroom, shower, and kitchen. Professors, Jeanine Centouri and Sonny Ward worked with the ACE Center to develop a book reviewing the cabins. I was a design student in the final semester of the project with my fellow team members.
My team was assigned to design a pavillion that would act as an kitchen for the cabins. The pavillion would also work as a secondary entrance to cabin campus. Together, we created a successful pavillion for the center in which the owner had the necessary fixtures installed during the summer months.
The deisgn concept was to take the a pre-designed shed from Lowe’s, and create our own design. The idea was to split the she into two halves which allowed users to enter the cabin campus. One half of the shed was twisted to formally show the transition from the original design to final product.
